JI Xiaomin

Personal Information

Xiaomin Ji, a male teacher and MA supervisor of School of Foreign Studies, Yangzhou University, was born in Rugao County, Jiangsu Province in April of 1979. He has received his Doctor’s Degree of Arts from Nanjing University under the supervision of Prof. CHEN Xinren. He is member member of “China Pragmatics Association”,“The Chinese Association of Logic” and “Jiangsu Foreign Linguistics Association”. He is also one of the reviewer for Foreign Language Learning Theory and Practice and Journal of Changchun Institute of Technology.

Selected Works

He has published a dozen of articles in such journals as Foreign Language Learning Theory and Practice, Foreign Languages Research and Journal of Yunnan Normal University. His representative articles are as follows, “A comparative study of empirical pragmatic studies at home and abroad: Data types and methods of collection”, “An RT account of new bei XX construction and its weak implicatures”, “A review of Negotiating and Contesting Identities in Linguistic Landscapes” and “Linguistic purification: Enlightenment from the administrative intervention and planning abroad”. He also has published a few book chapters in Pragmatics and Foreign Language Teaching, Theories of Politeness and Foreign Language Teaching, and Studies in Language Planning and Security in the Context of Globalization.

 

Research Projects

He has completed a research project funded by Philosophy and Social Sciences Fund of Jiangsu Province and takes part in other projects, such as “Language Planning and Security”, “Liberal education and the semester-long exchange program: Assessing the ‘whole person development’ of L2 sojourners from Greater China”.

 

Awards

He has presented his papers on various conferences and won a few awards in 2013,2014 respectively. He has won a scholarship for excellent students of Nanjing University and an honor of “Sanyuren” issued by School of Foreign Studies, Yangzhou university.
